Setup

How to use TimeCredit

TimeCredit setup follows a clear sequence: enable the required permissions, select the apps you want to manage, classify them, then define your time rules.

1. Install and enable permissions

  1. Download TimeCredit from the App Store.
  2. Enable Screen Time permissions so TimeCredit can monitor and manage the selected apps, categories, and web domains.
  3. Check the Screen Time status in Parameters before configuring control rules.

2. Select what TimeCredit manages

  1. Open App Selection.
  2. Select the individual apps, iOS categories, and/or web domains you want TimeCredit to include.
  3. Use Add or Modify to classify each selected item.

3. Classify apps

Each selected item belongs to one of four categories:

  • Work - productive or educational apps. Work apps earn Fun Time Credit.
  • Fun - entertainment and leisure apps. Fun apps consume Fun Time Credit.
  • Monitored - apps you want to track without blocking.
  • Restricted - apps you want to limit or block with rules.

4. Define time rules

  1. Set usage durations for selected apps, categories, or web domains.
  2. Set time windows to decide when apps are allowed.
  3. Adjust the Work to Fun credit rate.
  4. Add or remove Fun Time Credit manually when real life requires flexibility.

5. Secure the setup

  1. Set a Parent PIN if the device is used by a child or if you want stronger self-discipline.
  2. Lock TimeCredit settings so sensitive changes require the PIN.

Can I define daily limits and schedules?

Yes. You can define daily caps and allowed time windows for selected apps, categories, or web domains.

Does TimeCredit require an internet connection?

No. TimeCredit is designed to operate locally on your device (except for an encrypted backup in your personal iCloud space, if you have it enabled).

Terms

Terms of Use

TimeCredit's use is governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA). These Terms of Use supplement that agreement and clarify certain aspects (user responsibility, limitations, acceptable use). Subscriptions are managed by the App Store: automatic renewal and cancellation are handled in your Apple account settings.

Purpose of TimeCredit

TimeCredit is designed to help users understand and manage screen time through app usage statistics, app classification, Fun Time Credit, time limits, schedules, and optional control rules. TimeCredit is not a substitute for parental supervision, personal judgment, education, communication, or responsible device management.

User responsibility

You are solely responsible for choosing your settings, selecting apps or categories, configuring schedules, defining limits, managing the PIN, reviewing permissions, and checking that TimeCredit behaves as expected on your device. You are also responsible for keeping your device, operating system, Apple account, Screen Time settings, and TimeCredit version up to date.

Parental responsibility

When TimeCredit is used for parental control, parents or guardians remain solely responsible for deciding whether the app is appropriate for the child, explaining the rules, supervising device use, reviewing settings regularly, and adapting rules to the child, age, maturity, family context, and applicable laws.

Misconfiguration, misuse, and circumvention

TimeCredit is not responsible for consequences resulting from incorrect setup, incomplete setup, disabled permissions, unsuitable rules, weak PIN choices, shared PINs, device sharing, changes made by the user, changes made by a child or third party, attempts to bypass restrictions, use of alternative apps or devices, workarounds, system resets, operating system changes, or any other misuse, unintended use, or circumvention of the app.

Platform and third-party limitations

TimeCredit relies on Apple Screen Time-related APIs, iOS behavior, device settings, app categories, permissions granted by the user, and third-party apps or web domains. These elements are outside TimeCredit's control and may change, fail, become unavailable, behave differently than expected, or impose restrictions that affect TimeCredit features.

No guarantee of results

TimeCredit is provided as a screen-time assistance and configuration tool. It does not guarantee perfect blocking, perfect monitoring, uninterrupted operation, accurate categorization by third-party systems, specific behavioral outcomes, improved habits, reduced screen time, family conflict resolution, child safety, or prevention of access to unwanted content in every situation.

No emergency or safety-critical use

TimeCredit must not be used as an emergency, safety-critical, medical, psychological, legal, security, or child-protection service. You should not rely on TimeCredit as the only measure to protect a child, enforce rules, prevent harm, or supervise device use.

Availability and changes

TimeCredit features may evolve, be modified, interrupted, limited, removed, or made temporarily unavailable. Updates to iOS, Apple policies, device settings, or third-party apps may affect how TimeCredit works. You are responsible for reviewing TimeCredit after updates and adjusting settings if needed.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TimeCredit, its developer, owner, contributors, and related parties shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, losses, claims, costs, expenses, data loss, device issues, missed restrictions, excessive screen time, family disputes, user behavior, child behavior, unauthorized changes, bypasses, misconfiguration, misuse, interruption, unavailability, or any other consequence arising from or related to the use of, inability to use, configuration of, reliance on, or performance of TimeCredit.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TimeCredit is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, availability, compatibility, security, or non-infringement.

Maximum liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, if any liability cannot be excluded, the total aggregate liability of TimeCredit and its developer shall be limited to the amount you paid for TimeCredit, if any, during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Legal rights that cannot be excluded

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse TimeCredit, attempt to bypass security mechanisms, interfere with its operation, reverse engineer it where prohibited, use it to violate applicable law, or use it in a way that infringes the rights, privacy, or safety of others.

Privacy

Your use of TimeCredit is also governed by the Privacy Policy on this page. TimeCredit is designed to work locally and does not require an account.
